Judy Capko

Judy Capko is the founder of Capko & Company and author of the popular book "Secrets of the Best-Run Practices," Greenbranch Publishing, September 2005. Judy has specialized in medical practice operations and marketing for more than 20 years, and is a certified risk management specialist. Her emphasis is on building patient-centered strategies and valuing staff's contribution. Beyond this, she focuses on maximizing resources, resulting in improved operational and financial performance. Hundreds of physicians and administrators have benefited from her advice and innovative, energetic approach to organizational management and strategic planning. Judy has gained national recognition in her field, working with both small and large practices, as well as major academic faculty practices from coast to coast.

Judy was a charter member of the National Association of Health Care Consultants and the past marketing chairperson for the Society of Medical-Dental Management Consultants. She served on the advisory panel and was a frequent presenter for Quality Forums, a national program sponsored by Pfizer Pharmaceutical. For several years she served as a judge for the national "Physician of the Year" competition sponsored by Physicians Practice, Inc.

Judy is a popular speaker for major healthcare conferences such as MGMA, national specialty associations, healthcare systems, regional medical societies and healthcare executive summits. She has been interviewed by and published in over 30 prestigious national medical journals including American Medical News, Dermatology Times, Family Practice Management, Group Practice Journal, Medical Economics, Ophthalmology Times, Orthopedics Today, Physicians Advisory, Physicians Practice, Private Practice Success, The Journal of Medical Practice Management and Urology Times.

Joseph Capko

Joe Capko is a Senior Marketing & Market Research Consultant with Capko & Company. He specializes in strategic planning, business development, qualitative/quantitative studies and statistical analysis for healthcare and high technology sectors. He has conducted numerous research projects, patient satisfaction surveys and community needs assessments for the healthcare industry including such impressive clients as Lovelace Health System and The Sage Group, Inc.

A graduate of San Francisco State University in 1986, Joe received BA degrees in Political Science and Urban Planning. His ten years of experience with statistical research informed his recent, successful stints in sales, marketing and business development for a variety of companies. Applying this accumulated knowledge in the healthcare industry has yielded impressive results.

Prior to entering the health care industry, Joe fielded public opinion polls for the Public Research Institute and later accepted a position with the San Francisco Department of City Planning. He specialized in the design and implementation of database systems for the Big Six accounting firms. Joe has also fielded studies for PC World Magazine. He is a member of the American Statistical Association. This experience has been invaluable in serving physicians and various other healthcare enterprises.


Laurie Morgan

Senior consultant Laurie Morgan is an experienced marketing, business operations and strategy consultant. Since joining Capko & Company in 2010, Laurie has focused on revenue side issues for practices: billing, fee structures, collections and marketing. She has expertise in using technology to support practice profitability and community building through websites and social media. She has written articles on these subjects for a wide range of medical publications and websites.

Laurie's work with medical practices also draws on her 20 years experience in marketing and advertising, business development, and general management. As a general business consultant, Laurie has worked with small and medium businesses to streamline their operations and create and implement cost-effective marketing programs. Her consulting clients have spanned a variety of industries, including technology, finance and green building.

Prior to launching her consulting career, Laurie was a successful senior executive and entrepreneur. Her previous roles included overseeing an international operations team and planning and launching the web division for the global publishing company IDG; developing a technology startup business plan for Sony; and building out her independent publishing company, The Wedding & Special Event Yellow Pages, which served local small and medium businesses.

Laurie has an MBA from Stanford University and an AB in Economics from Brown University.
